  Largest pot of baked beans - world record set by the Alabama Butterbean Festival
                    
   PINSON, Ala., USA -- The Alabama Butterbean Festival in Pinson boasted 1,010 gallons of butterbeans in a 4-foot tall, 7-foot wide metal pot constructed by area businesses; the pot pot weighed 1,010 gallons (3 825.72 liters) - which sets the new world record for the Largest pot of baked beans.

     This is the 5th annual Butterbean Festival.

   Festival Director Phil Sims credited Barry Bradford of Bradford & Hines Custom Metal Fabrication, who doubled the size of the original pot his company had made in less than a month after they found out a church in the former Yugoslavia had broken the former world record of 400 gallons by building a pot holding 832 gallons of baked beans.

     The pot constructed by several local businesses over the past couple weeks held 1,010 gallons of butterbeans and were sold to festival visitors after the world record was confirmed by Guinness World Records representative Morgan Wilber.
  
     The pot was the centerpiece and crown jewel of this year's festival. Hundreds of people put tailgating on pause to see exotic animals, play games and of course, snack on butter beans.

   The previous Guinness World Record for the Largest pot of baked beans was held by Sarcievo, Macedonia, with a 832.14 US gallons (3,150 litres) of baked beans.
