Largest camel race: China breaks Guinness world record
NORTHWEST CHINA -- A total of 1,118 camels participated at The Thousand camel race and finished the full course of 5,000 meters; the event, which was held in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region breaks the Guinness World Records' record of 555 and sets the new world record for the Largest camel race,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest camel race involved 555 participants and was achieved by the Alxa League Administrative Office of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region (China) at Tamusu, Alateng Aobao Town, Alxa Right Banner, Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, China, on 19 November 2011.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest piggyback race; it involved 1,274 participants and was achieved by Scouts Australia (Australia) in Pascoe Vale South, Victoria, Australia.
The Thousand camel race was held in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
A total of 1,118 camels participated in the event and finished the full course of 5,000 meters.
The splendid scene attracted many spectators who were pleased to enjoy a leisurely and carefree atmosphere.
The largest previous camel race recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records involved 555 camels.
