Longest speech: Alex Cequea breaks Guinness world record
FAIRFIELD, IA, USA -- Alex Cequea, Editor in Chief of iPhone Life magazine and professional speaker, of Fairfield, gave a 34-hour speech at the Fairfield Arts and Conference Center, mostly about his own life and his family's journey from Venezuela to the United States, setting the new world record for the Longest speech marathon,

The Guinness world record for the longest speech marathon lasted 30 hr 6 min and was achieved by M. Madasamy (India) at the Himarani Auditorium, in Peermade, Kerala, India, on 4-5 June 2011.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest speech marathon by a team; it is 100 hours and was achieved by Mar Adentro de México, A.C., Toastmasters México - Jalisco and Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara 2010-2012 at Parque de la Revolución, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, from 18-22 May 2011.
Cequea, the co-owner of Fairfield-based iPhone Life magazine, spoke mostly about his own life and his family's journey from Venezuela to the United States.
"Breaking a Guinness Record has always been on my list of things to do before I die," Cequea said in phone interview for Des Moines Register. "I like doing unique things that inspire people."
Once terrified of public speaking, Cequea now regularly takes the mic at tech conferences for the magazine, said iPhone Life CEO David Averbach as Cequea was entering the last half-hour of his speech.
