Largest gathering of fairies: Solstice Walk 2013 breaks Guinness world record
Lichfield, UK -- A total of 871 fairies donned tutus and wings for the St Giles Hospice Solstice Walk night-time fundraiser through the city streets - – smashing the previous Guinness world record of a gathering of 786 fairies by Anna's Hop (UK) in Stamford, UK and setting the new world record for the Largest gathering of fairies,

The Guinness world record for the largest gathering of fairies was achieved by 786 participants at an event organised by Anna's Hope (UK) at Burghley Park, in Stamford, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as leprechauns, achieved by 1,263 participants in an event organised by Bandon Town (Ireland) in Bandon, Ireland.
Helen Relihan, head of fundraising for St Giles Hospice, said: "There's always a unique atmosphere at the Solstice Walk, but this year was particularly special, with everyone really joining in the spirit of the fairy-themed world record attempt.
The Solstice Walk is held every year on the closest Saturday to the summer solstice and has raised more than £500,000 for St Giles – which cares for people with cancer and other serious illnesses – since it was established in 2007, the Lichfield Mercury reported.
The 2013 walk Walk was was sponsored by Florette and saw women completing either one or two 4.5-mile laps of the Lichfield route.
