The Guinness world record for the most people wearing red noses is 15,956 at the Mega Pic-Nic 2010 in Parque Eduardo VII, Lisbon, Portugal.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people wearing Bobble hats: 764, achieved by St Anne's Primary School, Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.
The Anaheim Angels team gave away complimentary Angels wrestling masks to all in attendance for the home game against the White Sox.
The crowd of 40,000-plus fans were required to don the masks for at least 10 minutes, which the fans did during the fifth inning of the game (which, incidentally, was a 6-2 win for the Angels).
A representative from the Guinness World Records was on hand to verify the record.
To get fans in the mood to wear the masks, the Angels showed clips of the 2006 Jack Black movie "Nacho Libre" on the stadium video board.
It was the second consecutive season the Angels made the record books, doing a similar promotion last season when they handed out maroon Snuggie-style blankets and asked fans to wear them at the same time.
