Most People Sitting in One Chair: Japan City breaks Guinness World Records record
YAMAGATA CITY, Japan -- Yamagata city, in central Japan's Gifu prefecture, set a new world record that kept nearly 2,000 people on the edge of their seat; about 1,831 people gathered at Takatomi junior high school and successfully sat in one chair, the city said, breaking the previous Guinness World Records world record of 1,666 people set in September 2013 in Macau and setting the new world record for Most people sitting in one chair,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the most people sitting on one chair was achieved by 1,666 participants from Nu Skin Greater China (China) at an event organized by Outward Bound Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) in Macau, China, on 16 September 2013.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest rocking chair; it measures 12.83 m (42 ft 1 in) tall and 6.17 m (20 ft 3 in) wide. It belongs to Dan Sanzaro (USA) and was presented and measured in Cuba, Missouri, USA, on 4 September 2008.
About 1,831 people gathered at Takatomi junior high school and successfully sat in one chair, the city said, breaking the previous Guinness World Records world record of 1,666 people set in September 2013 in Macau.
"One man at the end of the row sat on a chair," a city official said, with the following people sitting on the lap of the person behind them.
The 1,831 participants had to form circles on the school grounds. The group failed to keep the position during their first attempt, but succeeded in holding it for more than a minute on their second try, the city said.
