MERREDIN, WA, Australia -- A total of 299 people at the Merredin Show participated in a effort by simultaneously rolling car tyres across a distance of 100 metres - setting the new world record for the Most people rolling tyres simultaneously.
The previous Guinness world record for the most people rolling tyres simultaneously was 265 at an event held at Newtown High School, Sandy Hook, Connecticut, USA.
Guinness World Records also recognized tThe tallest stack of tyres: 6.03 m (19.77 ft), organised by Martina Fichte, Felix Wuchner and Sven Sütterlin (all Germany) in Mambach, Germany.
To beat this world record, all the tyres had to be new, unused and of identical size, brand and make.
To make this possible the event's sponsor, Lora Nicoletti at Trans Tyres Merredin, sourced 300 new GT Radial tyres to be used for the record attempt.
Great Eastern Freightlines brought all the tyres from Perth for the occasion.
Anyone at the Merredin Show was able to participate and those participating ranged from children to senior citizens.
Each participant was given a pair of white woollen gloves to handle the tyres with. Three-hundred people participated but one person's tyre fell over and they were disqualified.
