Most People Planking Simultaneously: Hillcrest College set world record
Burleigh BC, QLD, Australia -- 541 Hillcrest Christian College students went to their school oval and lied face down with their arms by their sides, head to toe in circles for almost half an hour in a "safe plank" position , setting the world record for Most People Planking Simultaneously in One Place, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

The previous Guinness world record for the most people dressed as sunflowers was 116 set at The Nursery on the Green in London, UK.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people dressed as Robin Hood: 1,119 at Castle Green, Nottingham, UK.
Planking, the strange fad which involves lying face down in an unusual location and requires a photo taken of the participants, became an internet sensation this year.
POLICE say the latest internet craze "planking" isn't illegal but have warned enthusiasts against lying across public or private property in case they are charged with trespass.
Ben Thompson, the College's chaplain organised the event, co-ordinated 541 students to lie face down on their school oval with their arms by their sides, head to toe in circles for almost half an hour in a "safe plank" position.
In order to raise the funds, each student involved donated a gold coin.
No record has previously been set for the most plankers in one place, but a Guinness World Records spokeswoman said the minimum number of people planking had to be 250 to set a new record.
Each student donated a gold coin as part of the record attempt, raising about $700 for World Vision.
Facebook page Planking Australia has more than 16,100 fans and features hundreds of photos of people lying across desks, train tracks, in front of buses, on horseback, over stairwells, fire hydrants, on art-installations, goalposts, motorbikes and, even other plankers.
