Fastest marathon by a linked team: Manhattan men set world record

 
Coudersport, PA, USA--Five Manhattan men - Brad Weiss, 36, Chris Solarz, 32; Terence Gerchberg, 39; Stephen England, 31 and Francis Laros, 48 - finished the God's Country Marathon in Coudersport, Pa., in three hours and 26 minutes, while tethered together - setting the new world record for the Fastest
marathon by a linked team.

  The Guinness world record for the fastest marathon by a linked team was 3 hr 26 min 15 sec by Chris Solarz, Brad Weiss, Terence Gerchberg (all US), Francis Laros (South Africa) and Stephen England (UK) at the God's Country Marathon in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the record for the fastest time to complete a half marathon race three legged, held by Alastair and Nick Benbow (UK) who ran the London Half Marathon in 1 hr 37 min 53 sec.
  

  "You are now officially talking to a world record holder," said Daily News advertising sales representative Brad Weiss, 36.

  "We're more than elated. It's an amazing accomplishment." Weiss and his buddies - Chris Solarz, 32; Terence Gerchberg, 39; Stephen England, 31 and Francis Laros, 48 - finished the God's Country Marathon in Coudersport, Pa., in three hours and 26 minutes, beating the previous Guinness world record by 12 minutes.
