Most number of dishes on display - Kraft Foods sets
world record
MANILA, Philippines -- Chefs and students from
the finest cooking school in Manila gathered at the Araneta
Coliseum and created 5,845 cheese-based dishes-setting the

Alex Tacdera, a representative of Kraft
Foods Philippines, said the world record for the most
number of dishes on display, in a single day was organized
to celebrate Filipino originality and love for food, in a
time of great challenge for their nation.
Cooks from local esteemed culinary institutions
including Regina Carmeli, St. Paul College, Centro Escolar
University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, La Consolacion College
and Arellano University all tried their best to come up with
innovative and tasty cheese treats.
As the world record attempt for the most
number of dishes on display, in a single day held
at the Araneta coliseum was sponsored by Kraft Eden cheese,
the culinary experts were required to come up with 5,845 meals
containing cheese to beat the previous Guinness world record
for the most
number of dishes on display, in a single day, set
by India in 2007, of 4,668 dishes.
The Magsaysay
Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA)
contributed most of the research and student manpower in the
making of the event, with the added help of other schools
such as Regina Carmeli, St. Paul College, Centro Escolar University,
Emilio Aguinaldo College, La Consolacion College, and Arellano
University.
“During these challenging times, it is important
to remember not what we have lost but what we still have as
a nation,” says Alex Tacderas, Category Marketing Manager
for Cheese and Spoonables, Kraft Foods Philippines. “We hold
in our hands the innate Filipino creativity and love for food
which, when put together, can empower our pride for our country.”
Kraft Eden will also be organizing a
“Keso de Gallo”, an event where people will try to use Eden
cheese to prepare a feast for families affected by the Ondoy
and Pepeng typhhons, who don’t have the means to celebrate
Christmas this year.
Next year, Eden Cheese hopes to again beat
record by making 8,000 cheese dishes.
