TENALI, India -- About 128,918 chanters came together in Tenali, India to chant for world peace; the participants repeatedly chanted verses of the Hanuman Chalisa, a Hindu chant to Lord Hanuman, the God who manifests energy, happiness and protection, setting the new world record for the Most people chanting,

The Guinness World Records' record for the most people chanting involved 128,918 participants who were led by His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh (India) on 31 Jan 2015.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest singing lesson; it involved 6,651 participants and was achieved by Sweet Adelines International during the 63rd Annual Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition at the Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, on 24 October 2009.
His Holiness Dr. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji leads more than 220,000 participants in India in mass chant for world peace. Sri Swamiji is a leading exponent of "Nada Chikitsa" or "healing through music."
The World Record attempt involved 128,918 participants, however by the end of the day 220,000 people had attended the event.
He is a leader in the movement of using music for meditation and healing purposes and has brought his music to venues around the world including Lincoln Center, New York; The Albert Hall, London; and the Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles. These events were supported by Yoga Sangeeta.
The participants repeatedly chanted verses of the Hanuman Chalisa, a Hindu chant to Lord Hanuman, the god who manifests energy, happiness and protection.
"Hanuman Chalisa is a very ancient prayer dating back over 400 years.
This particular prayer is especially chosen for chanting since the collective sound vibrations create positive impact thereby promoting universal brotherhood, and aiding in the well-being of the entire universe," said Sri Swamiji.
