The Guinness world record for the longest running football match was set in Holland in a game that lasted 64 hours.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people dribbling a football (soccer ball) simultaneously; it was 2,068, in an event organized by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency Gaza Field Office (Palestinian Entity, West Bank-Gaza) in Rafah, Gaza Strip.
The world's longest football match lasted 72 hours, the equivalent of 48 ordinary games, and finished with a score of 603 to 'the reds' Stockport Albion and 462 to 'the whites' Manchester Rovers – with blister numbers keeping step with the goal tally.
Organised by Nick Rose, a salesman from Stockport based Midshire Business Systems, the World's longest football match also raised over £25,000 for local children's hospice Francis House, according to the Meseenger Newspapers.
This is a personal charity to Nick and his family as his sister, Taylor Rose, has many friends who go and stay at Francis House.
The 36 players have trained for 4 months with drills and long games with the hope that they can pull this off.
"I'm absolutely over the moon about this; it's the best thing I've taken part in, in my life," said Nick.
"The camaraderie was amazing, there was only really one team out there, every player looked out for others on the pitch, no matter which side they were playing for."
