Largest Cornish pasty - world
record set by Proper Cornish
BODMIN, Cornwall, UK -- The Proper
Cornish team have created a giant Cornish pasty measuring
around 15ft in length and weighing 1,900lb (850 kg) - which
sets the world record for the Largest
Cornish pasty.

Largest
Cornish pasty weighed an amazing 1900lbs (850kg).
It was around 15ft long and packed with 180lb of swede, 100lb
of potato and 75lb onion. (enlarge

The World's Largest
Cornish pasty was crammed full with 165 kg of beef
skirt and sackfuls of potatoes, onions and swede; it contained
a staggering 1,750,000 calories and took 11 hours to cook
in a specially built oven.
The World's Largest
Cornish pasty was so large it had to be transported
by lorry to a special weigh bridge for verification while
it was still being cooked.
The supersize snack was hand-crafted by
six bakers from Proper Cornish in Bodmin, Cornwall, as part
of a TV show cook-off.
A special oven had to be built to cook the
pasty – a process which took 11 hours – and it was transported
still inside for judging.
Director Mark Muncey said his winning team were
"tired but ecstatic" at having smashed the world record. The
enormous meal would have cost £7,000 to buy whole and was
equivalent to around 3,500 normal-sized pasties.
The Proper
Cornish team beat rivals Lostwithiel Bakery in the
24 hour race at Cornwall's Fowey Regatta and their gigantic
pasty was later broken up and dished out to the hungry crowd.
The event was filmed for the food
show Monster Munchies, due to be screened on the Good Food
channel later this year.
