Building
the most sandcastles in one hour - Lewis Manning
Hospiceworld sets world record
POOLE, UK -- Some 100 volunteers, supporters,
and residents at the Lewis Manning Hospice in Poole had constructed
539 sandcastles in 60 minutes, each measuring two feet high
by two feet wide, and with four visible turrets - setting
the new world record for Building
the most sandcastles in one hour.

In order to qualify, each sandcastle had
to measure 2ft (60cm) by 2ft (60cm), and have four visible
turrets.
Those who took part donated about £600 to
the voluntary hospice, which provides care to more than 650
local people with life-threatening illnesses.
Fundraising manager, Maria Tidy, said participants
had been gripped by tension as solicitors from Canford Cliffs
legal firm, D’Angibau Wilmot, measured the castles in their
capacity as reliable witnesses.
The previous Guinness World Record for Building
the most sandcastles in one hour was 520 castles.
