Largest fruit cake: Nicaraguan Bakery breaks Guinness World Records' record
MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- About three hundred kids staged a fundraiser in Nicaragua and smashed a sweet Guinness World Records' record, baking a giant fruitcake to help local sick children's charities; stretching across 500 meters (1,640 feet) – the length of four city blocks - and weighing in at a whopping 31,865 pounds, the cake sets the new world record for the Largest Fruit cake,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest fruit cake weighed 3,825 kg (8,432 lb 10 oz) and was made by Just Bake (India). It was displayed at Food & Kitchen EXPO 2011, Tripua Vasini, Place Grounds, in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest line of cakes; it measured 571.5 m (1,875 ft) and was achieved by Ricca's Italian Bakery (USA) in Hammonton, New Jersey, USA.
Stretching across 500 meters (1,640 feet) – the length of four city blocks – the whopper of a cake was whipped up by Shick Bakery over two days to help local sick children's charities.
The eye-popper of a fruitcake took 60,000 eggs, 65 bags of flour and sugar weighing 45 kilograms each, 320 margarine containers, 75 buckets of candied fruit and 30 buckets of caramel, plus a lot of guava and pineapple jam.
Weighing in at a whopping 31,865 pounds, the dessert took home the World Record for the largest fruit cake – overwhelming the previous Guinness World Records' record holder, a. 8,432-pound plum cake baked in 2011 by Just Bake in Bangalore, India.
