The Guinness world record for the most expensive sandwich commercially available is von Essen Platinum Club Sandwich, created by Chef Daniel Galmiche (UK) and is available on the menu of Cliveden, Buckinghamshire, UK for £100 ($200).

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Most expensive sandwich sold at auction online; it is a grilled toasted sandwich which sold for $28,000 (then £15,000) on Ebay in November 2004. The original owner, Diane Duyser of Miami, USA, was just about to tuck into her sandwich when she noticed it contained an image of the Virgin Mary. She sealed it, kept it for 10 years as a lucky charm, then went onto sell it to Goldenpalace.com, a Canadian online casino.

The deluxe sandwich features some of the world's most expensive ingredients, from Beluga caviar, one of the costliest caviars in the world, to "A5 Wagyu beef and Balik salmon, which costs around £107 (HKD 1,300) per kilo," said Peter Lee, Executive Sous Chef at Hullett House.

Spread between three crustless, lightly toasted slices of bread, the lavish ingredients will be placed alongside sliced black pork bacon, Iberico ham, Belgian figs, sliced Roma tomato, Romaine lettuce, cucumber, French chicken, Italian organic egg, mayonnaise, mesclun salad and green asparagus.

"The Club Sandwich frequently appears on hotel menus across the globe, but the creation from Hullett House shows how you can transform a staple into a work of art with a few luxurious ingredients," said Alison Couper from Hotels.com.

The luxury Club Sandwich is available at The Parlour at Hullett House for $63 (HKD480) from 15 June until 31 August, 2013.
