Most sandwiches made in one hour: Action Ministries breaks Guinness world record
ATLANTA, GA, USA -- The Atlanta-based nonprofit Action Ministries invited the public to be a part of a world record attempt to support Smart Lunch, Smart Kid; volunteers in Lithonia made 4,226 sandwiches in one hour; Athens volunteers made 3,814, and those who turned out in Rome made 4,000; the Gainesville group made 3,546, and the volunteers in Augusta made 2,988 sandwiches; every group beat the Guinness world record, with a combined total of
18,574 sandwiches, setting the new world record for the Most sandwiches made in one hour,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The goal was to beat the current Guinness world record of 2,706 sandwiches made in one hour set by fraternities in Florida.
The event took place at the following locations: Sam's Club on on Turner Hill Road in Lithonia, Sam's Club on Mundy Hill Road in Oakwood, Trinity United Methodist Church in Rome, Sam's Club on Atlanta Highway in Bogart near Athens and Marvin United Methodist Church in Martinez near Augusta.
The Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program aims to serve 200,000 healthy lunches to children in 20 Georgia cities this summer.
Smart Lunch, Smart Kid 2013 statewide sponsors include Arby's Foundation, Gas South, Sam's Club, United Methodist Communications, Walmart Foundation and WellCare of Georgia.
