Largest serving of fried chicken: Hungry Lion breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)
Mitchells Plain, South Africa -- To celebrate Heritage Day,
Mitchells Plain residents received 13,644 free pieces of Hungry Lion King Sized Chicken with a free Coca-Cola;
over 1.6 tonnes (1,631.216kg) of free chicken was served to Mitchells Plain residents, setting the new world record for the Largest serving of fried chicken,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest serving of fried chicken weighed 1,076 kg (2,372 lb 2.72 oz) and was produced by NOAS FM (Japan) at the 4th Karaage Festival at AEON Mall Sanko in Nakatsu City, Oita, Japan.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest serving of grilled chicken; it weighed 1,726.4 kg (3,806.06 lb) and was achieved by OOO Ptitsefabrika Akashevskaya (Russia), in Yoshkar-Ola, Russia, on 9 August 2014.
Hungry Lion smashed the current Guinness World Records' world record of 1,076kg with a serving of over 1.6 tonnes of free chicken served to participants from a mega sized, four metre high version of the iconic Hungry Lion Pride Bucket, which was specially produced for the World Record attempt.
According to Tashalene Reid, Brand Marketing Manager at Hungry Lion, the main aim of the record attempt was to give back to one of Hungry Lion's most loyal communities. Mitchells Plain residents received 13,644 free pieces of Hungry Lion King Sized Chicken with a free Coca-Cola.
While queuing at Liberty Promenade Mall, crowds were entertained by the popular Shoprite TopStars singers, a compilation of 12 top singers from the competitions' eight year history. The group of singers recently released their All-stars CD and performed from the Coca-Cola mobile concert rig erected at the event.
