Longest Bratwurst and Bun: Prescott grocery store sets world record (VIDEO)
Prescott, WI, USA --To celebrate the store's 100-year anniversary, Patrick Ptacek of Ptacek's IGA, a Wisconsin family-owned grocery store, orchestrated the grilling of a 52-foot-2-inch bratwurst, made in-house by store owner Mike Ptacek and sons Raphael and Tom; they grilled and served up the giant bratwurst -- complete with a bun, setting the new world record for the Longest Bratwurst and Bun, according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness world record for the most varieties of sausage commercially available is held by Chris Fenwick of Fenwicks Sausage and Meat Emporium, Lincolnshire, UK who currently sells 83 different varieties.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest vegetarian sausage measured 101 m (331 ft 4 in) and was achieved by Metzgerei Schnitzel e.V. (Germany) in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The World's Longest Brat was cooked on an improvised charcoal grill created from two long rows of cinder blocks, covered with metal grates.
The world's longest brat was made in-house by store owner Mike Ptacek and sons Raphael and Tom.
For an equally giant bun to hold the world record brat, store manager and son Pat Ptacek summoned the help of Jimmy Hanson from Pan-O-Gold Baking Company, bakers of Village Hearth® buns.
Hanson said the bun required 40 pounds of dough, a custom baking pan and careful transport in a 53-foot semi trailer from the company's Sun Prairie, WI, bakery.
It took a team of more than a dozen people to roll the giant sausage in sync every few minutes, and finally hoist it into the bun.
The longest brat in the world was then sold with 100% of the proceeds going to Have-A-Heart, Inc., a local nonprofit offering respite care for families and kids with developmental disabilities.
