12] MONACO--The 118
WallyPower, equipped with three gas turbineswhich
generates 16,800 HP power that allow to cruise a leisurely
60 knots in flat seas has set the world record for the fastest
yacht.
"This yacht is dedicated to speed and
partyung. Both to the maximum possible extent", said
Luca Bassani-President, Wally Yachts
The 118
WALLYPOWER is a high performance super yacht integrating
technology with design, resulting with unique and marked characteristics
like the vertical bow, the air inlets, and the deck superstructure.
At speed, the 118 WALLYPOWER is comfortable and
stable as a result of the V hull shape combined with the construction
technology and the perfect isolation of the machinery noise
and vibration.
The chameleon-like paint finish is metallic dark
green and changes reflections and colour depending on the
light and landscape.
Three
gas turbines generate 16,800 HP power that allow the 118 WallyPower
to cruise a leisurely 60 knots in flat seas and tackle rough
waters with ease in this ultimate luxury vehicle.
The designer and founder of Wally Yachts
is Luca Bassani Antivari, a 47-year-old Italian entrepreneur
and former champion yachtsman who has earned the Monaco-based
company an international reputation for customised cruising
boats.
The 118
WallyPower recently won the MYDA, the Millennium Yacht
Design Award organised by Seatec (the yachting and shipping
technology show of Carrarafiere) for the "Layout of the Third
MillenniuM".
The 118 is known by most from its role as
the "Renovatio" in the 2005 science-fiction film The Island.
It has a range of 1500 miles at 9 knots,
or 300 miles at 60 knots. The fuel capacity of the 118 is
22,000 litres or 5812 gallons.
If the gas turbine engines are all out, the 118
WallyPower uses 14 gallons for every mile at 60 knots. At
this rate it uses 951 gallons an hour. The displacement of
the 118 WallyPower is 95 tons. It can accommodate 6 guests
and 6 crew.
The beauty and luxury of the 118
WallyPower doesn't come cheap - it's current market
price is US $ 17 million when equipped with only twin diesels,
compared to US $ 25 million with triple gas turbines.
