The Guinness world record for the largest pot luck party was achieved by 479 participants, in an event organised by Slideluck Potshow (USA) in the Old Tobacco Warehouse, New York, USA.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the the largest tea party, set by 32,681 participants for the City of Indore, at Nehru Stadium, in Indore, India.
The world's largest potluck was the idea of the Rev. Dee Lundberg, Cory McDaniel, Amy Gieske and Lynn Williamson
and put on as a fundraiser for Interfaith, an organization that has been providing emergency services including food, shelter, clothing, prescriptions and case management in Casper for 30 years.
A legion of volunteers, decked out in white T-shirts, helped count every dish and person who came — and went. Guinness Book of World Records required the record-breaking number of people to remain for at least a half-hour.
"This is really our inaugural event," said acting executive director Marilyn Dymond Wagner. "We've been here 30 years, but I don't know if the average person had a clue about what we do. But this gives us great visibility."
