Fastest-red card-world record set by David
Pratt
LONDON, UK -- David Pratt, 21, a striker from
non-league Chippenham, was sent off by referee Justin Amey,
for a dangerous tackle three seconds after kickoff-setting
the new world record for the Fastest-red
card in senior soccer.

was dismissed for a wild tackle on Chris Knowles, 22, who
then helped Bashley to a 2-1 win in the British Gas Southern
Premier League game.
Pratt, a plumber from Swindon, believes he
did not deserve to be sent off. He told BBC: “I felt hard
done-to by the ref’s decision but he thinks it was a red card
so I have to take it.” “The world
record for the Fastest-red card is not a
big deal for me; it’s not something that I’m proud of.”
Chippenham striker Pratt, 21, launched a two-footed
lunge at Bashley forward Christopher Knowles, 22, direct from
kick-off in their British Gas Premier Division game.
Referee
Justin Comley immediately showed Pratt a red card to the amazement
of the 500 supporters at Bashley's New Forest ground.
Bashley manager Steve Riley said: 'It was
unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it to be honest.
'Nobody said anything, none of the players
protested and the referee had no choice really but to send
him off. It was a potential leg breaker. 'It is not something
you like to see on a football pitch but it happens and I think
the ref did a good job.'
Fortunately Knowles was able to continue as Bashley
went on to win the game 2-1.
Bashley won the British Gas Southern Premier League
game but Pratt, a plumber in his day job, insisted the sending
off was harsh. "I felt hard done-to by the ref's decision
but he thinks it was a red card so I have to take it," he
said.
The previousworld record for the
Fastest-red card was set by Bologna's Giuseppe
Lorenzo who was sent off after 10 seconds into an Italian
league game in 1990 against Parma for striking an opponent.
