Organiser Paul Benington said: "The zip slide
was 70ft high and covered 250ft in distance and it was freezing
cold at Magna. "But we have set a new world record for the
most
number of Santas zip sliding in one hour.
"Hundreds of people went down during the day and
it was fantastic. We were delighted to set a new world record
and now we want a record-breaking year for our toy appeal."
Hallam FM is collecting toys for disadvantaged
local children. Paul added: "Many local children won't receive
anything from Santa this Christmas. Our annual toy appeal
aims to change this by collecting toys and gifts from the
local community.
Everyone who took part in the world record attempt
was sponsored and all money raised will go towards Hallam
FM's Cash for Kids, the new name for Help A Hallam
Child which supports disadvantaged children in South Yorkshire
and the North Midlands.
