Most simultaneously unwrapped and consumed candies: Lindt sets world record
STRATHAM, NH, USA -- 590 Lindt employees unwrapped and ate LINDOR truffles, while lined up in a formation that spelled out R.S.V.P.
- setting the new world record for the most simultaneously unwrapped and consumed candies,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

Judy Goodnow, a chocolate consultant for the company, said it was hot out and her truffle nearly melted by the time she ate it -- but it was still a lot of fun.
The Guinness world record for the largest candy mosaic measured 99 m² (1065.627 ft²) consisting of 290,000 candies and was created by M/s. National Model Schools (India) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest piñata; it measured 14.32 m (47 ft) high, 20.9 m (68 ft 7 in) long, and 11.5 m (37 ft 9 in) wide, and was created by M&M'S in honor of M&M'S Pretzel Chocolate Candies' first birthday at the 69th Regiment Armory in New York, New York, USA.
The Lindt Chocolate workers gathered on Thursday at the Stratham plant.
Everyone was handed a signature red-wrapped Lindt milk chocolate truffle. After a countdown, they untwisted the foiled candies and popped them into their mouths.
The event was a fun way to kick off the 2012 Lindt Chocolate R.S.V.P. National Conference 2012 for Lindt Chocolate R.S.V.P. consultants.
The R.S.V.P. program was launched last year and provides chocolate connoisseurs with the opportunity to tap into their entrepreneurial spirit by becoming independent consultants and hosting chocolate tasting parties, explained Lindt CEO & President, Thomas Linemayr.
Linemayr said the company decided to hold the "World's Largest Chocolate Party" to get things started and thought setting a new world-record fit in nicely.
"We thought it was a great way to make our chocolate party even bigger," he said. "When you sell chocolate you sell happiness and what better way to be happy then to throw a chocolate party."
Linemayr said it was also important to show appreciation for all of the company's employees, which produce 1.5 billion truffles a year.
"At the end of the day, we are selling chocolate to make people happy, and we have to celebrate happiness," Linemayr said.
