Largest
slab of chocolate fudge-Lansing Community College sets world
record
LANSING, MI, USA -- LCC culinary professor
William Nicklosovich, Crosby and a team of Lansing Community
College students created a slab of fudge that weighed 5,500
pounds-setting the world record for the Largest
slab of chocolate fudge.

pounds of chocolate and 305 gallons of sweetened, condensed
milk, they bested the previous world record of 5,050 pounds
that was set on May 24, 2007. Photo by: Kevin

Nicklosovich, aka Chef Nick, and Jim Crosby, aka Peppermint
Jim, the sleep-deprived cadre cooked on LCC's West Campus.
They worked throughout the night and so did several
of the students who volunteered to chop chocolate and make
fudge.
"People just need to stick together," philosophized
Nicklosovich, who said he likes to emphasize the importance
of networking, teamwork and communication to his students.
He and Crosby relied on a network of 200 sponsors, culinary
and hospitality students and faculty members to reach the
intensity of work that happened this past weekend.
The fudge was sold for $10 a pound, and
the money will benefit local charities.
The road to the record has been paved with
some previous unsucessful attempts by Peppermint Jim. In 2003,
he made it to 850 lbs. of fudge. In 2007, his attempt failed
before he reached any pounds at all.
The Northwest Fudge Factory in Ontario
made the previous world's largest slab of fudge - at 5,050
pounds - on May 24, 2007.
