Most fire trucks in a parade-Casselton parade
sets world record
CASSELTON, N.D., USA -- The town of Casselton recruited
181 fire trucks from throughout the Upper Midwest to take
part in the Cass County Summerfest parade-setting the new
world record for the Most
fire trucks in a parade.
Photo: More than 80 fire departments
from North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota contributed
to the lineup, forming a river of red that winded more than
a mile west of town before the parade. (enlarge

Greg Kempel is the Casselton ambulance crew
member and winery owner who led the effort.
The trucks mostly came from North Dakota. But
there were also fire trucks from Minnesota, South Dakota,
and even Oklahoma.
There were many vintage trucks in the parade,
dating back to the 1920’s and 1930’s, said the Sims. The trucks
from the farthest away was from Belle Fourche, South Dakota,
at 470 miles.
But perhaps no one traveled as far as Larry Cox,
55, a semi-retired school bus driver from Edmond, Okla. “I
just wanted to be part of history,” he said.
The previous Guinness world record for the
Most
fire trucks in a parade is 159 and was achieved by
Vogt Ltd., Fire Service Accessories and Vehicles in Oberdiessbach,
Switzerland on 28 April 2006.
