Highest-Altitude Basketball Shot: 'How Ridiculous' breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
Gordon Dam, Australia -- The same group of Australian basketball fans who set the original record were back at it, setting the World Record for highest basketball shot, draining this shocker from atop the Gordon Dam, located in South West Tasmania, Australia, 415 feet (126.5m) high, according to the World Record Academy.
Photo: The How Ridiculous team, who set the world record for highest basketball shot in 2011 by dropping a ball from 220 feet up and added 80 feet to the record two days later, took their ball and hoop to the Gordon Dam in Tasmania for their latest attempt.
The Guinness World Records' record for the greatest height from which a basketball has been shot was 91.113 m (298 ft 11.12 in) by Kyle Nebel (Australia) of 'How Ridiculous' in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 31 August 2013.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people spinning a basketball simultaneously; it was achieved by 104 participants in an event organised by Cheshire Jets Basketball Club at Ellesmere Port Catholic High in Chester, UK, on 26 July 2009.
Australian trick-shot team "How Ridiculous" is no stranger to breaking world records. In 2011, the squad broke the record for highest-altitude basketball shot with a 219-foot toss off the top of a light tower. In 2013, the team set a new record with a 299-foot shot in the Netherlands.
The daring group made it to the top of the massive Gordon Dam in Tasmania with a portable basketball hoop set up at the very bottom ...415 feet below.
Posted on YouTube video channel How Ridiculous, the shot was taken from Australia's Gordon Dam, which measures 460 feet (140m) in height, or the equivalent of a 46-storey building.
For their next stop, the group said they will check out The Burj Al Arab Helicopter Pad or the Burj Khalifa.
