  Longest tightrope walk: Nik Wallenda breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   
WEST ALLIS, WI, USA -- High-wire daredevil Nik Wallenda has completed his longest tightrope walk ever during an appearance at the Wisconsin State Fair; Wallenda evening crossed the 1,576-foot wire that was strung more than 10 stories above the Milwaukee Mile Speedway on the fairgrounds,
setting the new world record for the Longest tightrope walk, according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the longest tightrope crossing by bicycle is 71.63 m (235 ft) and was achieved by Nik Wallenda (USA) in Newark, New Jersey, USA, on 15 October 2008. The tightrope was set up between two cranes at a height of 41.15 m (135 ft).

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the highest incline tightrope walk; it is 204.43 m (670.73 ft) and was achieved by Nik Wallenda (USA) in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 2 November 2014.

     Nick Wallenda set a world record when he crossed a narrow wire, strung 10 stories off the ground, that stretched for 1,560 feet over the Milwaukee Mile racetrack at the Wisconsin State Fair. There was no net below.

    Wallenda had been expected to carry a 45-pound bar for stability and wear soft shoes made by his mother, Delilah, a member of the famous Flying Wallendas.

     He wore an earpiece and a microphone during his walk, which allowed him to answer questions from fans on Twitter.

     The 36-year-old holds nine Guinness World Records for his stunts and is part of the seventh generation of the famed Flying Wallenda family of acrobats. His great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, slipped and fell to his death from a high-wire in Puerto Rico in 1978.
