Highest flagstaff-Turkmenistan sets world
record
ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan--An official ceremony of raising
the Turkmen state flat on top a 133 meter high flagstaff,
sets the world record for the Highest flagstaff.
In the accompaniment of the state anthem of Turkmenistan,
a 52,2 x 35 m state flag weighing 420 kg was ceremonially
raised on top the flagstaff.
Built by the Turkish Polimeks company in
the square in front of the national museum, the ceremony was
held in Ashgabat on June 29.
The Turkmen 301 square meters hand-made carpet
named Altyn Asyr (Golden Age) was recognized the world biggest
carpet in 2001.
