   Ras Al Khaimah, UAE -- The length of the Jebel Jais Flight zipline, located on top of UAE's highest mountain, Jebel Jais, measures over 1.7 miles long, making it longer than the Golden Gate Bridge, thus setting the new world record for the Longest zip line, according to the World Record Academy.

    Measuring 1.76 miles long, this zipline stretches longer than 28 football fields, and crushes the former record holder in Puerto Rico by almost 2,000 feet.
   This exhilarating adventure at Jebel Jais mountain will allow particpants to fly face-down, in a superhero position, at speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour (93 mph).

    The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD (TM) for the longest zip wire is Jebel Jais Flight, measuring a single unbroken span of 2,831.88 m (7,814.59 ft), achieved by Toro Verde and Ras al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (both UAE), it is located at Jebel Jais, in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

   GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (TM) also recognized the world record for the longest zip wire course (combined length); it is Screaming Eagle (USA) measuring 11.92 km (39,127 ft) at Historic Banning Mills, Whitesburg, Georgia, USA, and verified on 17 November 2012. The zip wire course consists of 135 ziplines including the 3,000 ft Flight of the Falcon, and would take approximately 12 hours to complete the entire course.

The zipline can handle as many as 100,000 people a year, and though there are no age restrictions, riders must be at least 1.22 meters tall and no heavier than 150 kilograms. (enlarge photo)

    It has broken the previous world record, which was 1.36 miles (2.2km) in Puerto Rico, and thrill-seekers can travel along the zip-line at speeds of up to 93mph (150kph) for two or three minutes at a time.
