Largest Menudo Soup: world record set by Juanita's Foods (VIDEO)
WILMINGTON, CA, USA -- Chefs from Juanita's Foods with help from culinary students and instructors at The Art Institutes used a massive 300-gallon kettle to cook the traditional Mexican-style soup, which weighted 2,439 lbs., to celebrate National Menudo Month, thus setting the new world record for the Largest Menudo Soup, according to the World Record Academy. The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD (TM) for the largest serving of lagman soup weighs 687 kg (1,514.58 lb) and was achieved by the Kazakh Geographic Society (Kazakhstan) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 1 May 2015.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (TM) also recognized the world record for the most expensive bowl of soup commercially available; it costs £108 ($190) and is featured on the menu at the Kai Mayfair restaurant, London, UK. The soup is called Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and contains shark's fin, abalone, Japanese flower mushroom, sea cucumber, dried scallops, chicken, huan ham, pork and ginseng.
