Longest car wash: world record set in Texas (VIDEO)
KATY, TX, USA -- We all know everything is bigger in Texas; the Buc'ees on I-10 in Katy it's 85 yards long (255-foot-long) and has every possible tool to get your vehicle sparkling again, thus setting the new world record for the Longest car wash (Longest car wash conveyor belt), according to the World Record Academy. The 56,000-square-foot store at 27700 Katy Freeway opened in September 2017 and it cost upwards of $3 million to build.
The enormous gas station and travel center offers 120 gas pumps, plus a few just for diesel. The store and car wash also have a backup generator should the power ever go out.
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD (TM) for the longest car wash conveyor belt is Buc-ee's Car Wash, measures 77.72 m (255 ft), achieved by Buc-ee's, Ltd. (USA) and MacNeil Wash Systems (Canada) at Katy, Texas, USA. The record is based on market research carried out by Brink Results, LLC.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (TM) also recognized the world record for the most cars washed in eight hours at multiple venues; it is 6,277 and was achieved by Repco Australia and New Zealand (Australia/New Zealand), across 89 stores in Australia and New Zealand, on 27 October 2012.
It takes a full five minutes for a dirty car to enter at one end and emerge clean at the exit, 255 feet away.
