Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people riding unicycles simultaneously: 1,142 - at an event organized by Andrea Hardy at the Dultplatz in Regensburg, Germany.

Ian, who is part of the 3sixty bicycle stunt team, has been a professional rider for more than 10 years, The Shields Gazette reported.

Ian, of Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland, said: "I chose to come to Monkton Stadium for these attempts because everything is so precise and has to be measured properly, and at an athletic track, a lot of that is already done for you. It's a great local venue, and I wanted to do this here for them as well."

The world record attempt has been organised by Monkton Stadium, with the help of South Tyneside Council.

The world records Ian holds are the highest drop onto a target – a 3.3m drop onto a 4ins target - the longest bunny hop gap at 4.7m, the highest 180 degree spinning bunny hop at 1m and the most consecutive bunny hops at 100m.
