Fastest wheelie on ice: Ryan Suchanek breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

MADISON, WI, USA -- Ryan Suchanek from Wisconsin hit the high speeds on his 2005 Kawasaki ZX10R across a frozen Lake Koshkonong, in his home state, staying upright for more than 200 metres,
setting the new world record for the Fastest wheelie on ice, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

Guinness World Records recognized the world record for the fastest motorcycle wheelie over 1 kilometre; it is 251.86 km/h (156.50 mph) achieved by Terry Calcott (UK) at Elvington Airfield, Yorkshire, UK.

The Guinness world record for the longest stoppie on motorcycle is 1320.3 feet (402.42 meters), achieved by Jesse Toler (USA), at the Z-Max Dragway, Charlotte Diesel Super Show, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

Ryan Suchanek also held the previous world record, 95 mph, which he set several years ago.

To qualify for the world record, Suchanek needed two GPS units, a radar gun as well as several witnesses before it could be confirmed.

Suchanek, who uses special studs on his tires to perform the stunt, said preparation is the key to doing so safely.

"You've got to make a tire that takes a while, you've got to get used to riding on the ice which isn't easy," Suchanek said.

"The thing is you never know what the weather's going to be like."

Suchanek also said he hopes to try and break his own world record again next year.
