The Guinness world record for the greatest distance by kart in 24 hrs outdoors is 1,696.8 km (1054.34 miles) achieved by Howard Kayman (UK) at the Teeside Autodrome, Middlesbrough, UK.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the record for the greatest distance by kart in 24 hrs outdoors: 2,056.7 km (1,277.97 miles), achieved by the team Equipe Vitesse at Teesside Karting´s track at Redcar & Cleveland Offroad Centre, Middlesbrough, UK.

Howard completed 1,054.4 miles in the 24-hour period, an average speed of 43.9mph.

To put that into perspective, the winning team (as in more than one driver) last 24-hour kart race on the Circuit Alain Prost at Le Mans managed just 1,055 miles in the same time.

Howard Kayman, of Beech Drive, Borehamwood, took on the punishing challenge and raised nearly £10,000 for the charity.

Now that he has a taste of world record success, Mr Kayman says his next goal is to break the 48-hour go-karting record which is currently just 1,248 miles held by a South African karter.
