  Greatest distance by dragon boat in one hour: world record set by China (VIDEO)
   
   BEIJING, China -- The team from Cangwu County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region covered a distance of 13,518m on the Xunjiang River in a dragon boat measuring 18.3m-long and 1.2m-wide, thus setting the new world record for the Greatest distance by a dragon boat in one hour, according to the World Record Academy.

 A dragon boat team from south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Friday set a new world record for the longest distance covered by a dragon boat within an hour. The record, 13,518 meters, was achieved by the 22-member Renhe team from Cangwu County, rowing a 18.3-meter-long, 1.2-meter-wide dragon boat in the Xunjiang River.

 The Guinness World Records world record for the greatest distance by dragon boat in 24 hours is 187.933 km (116.78 miles) and was achieved by Dragon Boat Pinatar (Spain), in San Pedro de Pinatar, Murcia, Spain, between 31 October and 1 November 2015.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the greatest distance by dragon boat in 24 hours in relay; it is 238.81 km (148.39 miles) and was achieved by the Irish Pub Punk Team (Germany) on the Mosel river, Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, from 30 to 31 May 2015.


     The 22-member crew consisted of farmers from the county and had an average age of 38, according to Feng Jianzhong, head of the city's sport bureau and organiser of the event, reported Sohu sports news portal.

    The team from Cangwu County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region covered a distance of 13,518m on the Xunjiang River in a dragon boat measuring 18.3m-long and 1.2m-wide.

    Located at the confluence of three rivers, the city of Wuzhou, which administers Cangwu County, boasts a long tradition of dragon boat races being held during the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on Tuesday.
