  Fastest 100 km barefoot (male): world record set by Teage O'Connor (VIDEO)
   
   BURLINGTON, VT, USA -- Runner Teage O'Connor finished 62 miles (100 km) in seven hours and 13 minutes on the University of Vermont's track, thus setting the new world record for the Fastest 100km barefoot (male), according to the World Record Academy.

Teage O'Connor took the title of fastest runner sans footwear in the 100K category by completing the 62 miles on a University of Vermont track, barefoot, in seven hours and 13 minutes.

 The Guinness World Records world record for the fastest 100 km run barefoot is 8 hr 42 min 11 sec and was achieved by Peter Wayne Botha (New Zealand) during the 18th Annual Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour race at AUT Millenium Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, on 3 October 2015.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest barefoot walk consisted of 7,050 participants and was organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Acharya Nagarjuna University (India) in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India, on 12 December 2012.


     Teage O'Connor took the title of fastest runner sans footwear in the 100K category by completing the 62 miles on a University of Vermont track, barefoot, in seven hours and 13 minutes.

   He said it was something he had hoped to do before his wife gives birth. "I sort of randomly decided on doing a 100K and I was looking for races. I wanted to break the world record for barefoot running 100K and I was looking at races and couldn't find anything and then figured it would be awesome to run in my hometown and I was not expecting this many people to come out," O'Connor said.

   He's no stranger to running. O'Connor was the top Vermont Men's finisher in the Vermont City Marathon this year.
