   Most plant species grafted onto the same plant: China breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

  
BEIJING, China -- China has set yet another World record after successfully grafting 641 varieties of chrysanthemum onto the same plant in Kaifeng, Henan Province; the extraordinary chrysanthemum measures 3.8 metres in diameter and it took one year to cultivate and the massive plant has about 1,500 blossoms, setting the new world record for the most plant species grafted onto the same plant,
according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the most chrysanthemum blooms on a single stem is 4,351 and was achieved by Yoshiteru Nomura (Japan) at All Japan Chrysanthemum Exhibition, Izumi-shi, Osaka, Japan, on 4 November 2011. The chrysanthemum plant measured 4.5 m (14ft 9 in)high and 2.2 m (7 ft 2 in) wide.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest carpet of flowers; it is 2,011 m (6,597 ft 9.07 in) and was created by the People's Government of Kaifeng City (China) for the 29th Kaifeng Chrysanthemum Festival in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China, on 18 October 2011.

    According to cultivation centre, it was quite challenging to graft that many chrysanthemums onto the same host plant as some of the species need different conditions for surviving.

   The cultivation facility created the world record for the most plant species grafted onto the same plant.

    The centre has already set six chrysanthemum-themed world records.
