Longest online advertisement - world record
set by David Sheath
LONDON, UK -- David Sheath, 28, used
131 bottles of polish to turn a brand new white Fiat 500 into
a glossy pink ride while broadcasting
over the internet by webcam his progress live and non-stop
during the 4 days, 2 hours and 2 minutes , setting the world record for the Longest
online advertisement.

He lived and slept in a special studio
in Clapham, South London, where he completed the mammoth task.
David embarked on the challenge after
breaking up with his girlfriend. He said: "I broke up with
my girlfriend and thought this would be a great way to get
through it."
The publicity stunt is a viral marketing
campaign launched by Fiat to promote their limited edition
Fiat 500 Pink which is available exclusively online.
The 1.2 litre engine car is only pink on
the outsides but comes complete with punk trim, an intense
pink centre dashboard and stylish leather gear knob, pink
naturally.
As car manufactures look at decreasing sales
figures, cheap online marketing campaigns such as this innovative
viral are not only cost effective, they engage a new audience
online attracting a broader spectrum of customers.
Last week, American manufacturer GMC announced
that it was preparing to drop expensive TV advertising spots
for online alternatives and virals.
