Longest table tennis rally: Max Fergus and Luke Logan broke Guinness World Record

STOUGHTON, WI, USA -- Max Fergus and Luke Logan, who attend Stoughton High School, broke the Guinness World Records' record for the longest table tennis rally at an event that doubled as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics; going 8 hours, 30 minutes, 6 seconds pinging the ball back and forth without stopping at the event held at the Sports Enhancement Academy, they've beat the previous Guinness world record by about 15 minutes,
setting the new world record for the Longest table tennis rally, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness World Records' record for the longest table tennis rally was played by Brian and Steve Seibel (USA) for 8 hr 15 min 1 sec at the Christown YMCA, Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest table tennis tournament, which was achieved by 2,048 participants in an event organized by the Baiyun Sports Bureau (China) in Guangzhou, China.

Throughout the day, they also raised more than $2,700 in donations for Special Olympics Wisconsin, a group the multisport athletes have volunteered for over the years, The Connect Stoughton reports.

The boys had a table set up in the gym with chairs for spectators, an official timer and video camera taping their action.

"This started out as a funny idea, but then it took considerable work to make it happen," said Max's mother, Bev Fergus, who coordinated the event. "I am proud of the determination and focus of the boys."
