The Guinness World Records' record for the most pizzas made in 12 hours by a team is 5,070 and was achieved by Ristorante Sportivi Paradiso (Switzerland) and the Istituto Nazionale della Pizza (Italy), in Chiasso, Switzerland, Italy, on 27 June 2015.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest line of pizzas; it measured 541.8 m (1,777 ft 10 in) and was achieved by the Van Duzer Foundation and the St. Lucie County Education Foundation (both USA) in Fort Pierce, Florida, USA, on 16 May 2009. The line consisted of 1,800 12-inch pizzas.

Lead by Papa John's Founder and CEO, John Schnatter, the team had the aim of setting a new Guinness World Records title for the most people tossing pizza dough simultaneously, on London's PottersFieldPark, beside TowerBridge.

John Schnatter said: "Today has been a fantastic way to showcase the passion we have at Papa John's for pizza and to demonstrate how much skill goes into making pizzas. I am delighted that we have broken the Guinness World Records world record today - a great way to begin our 300th store opening celebrations in Wimbledon tomorrow."

Papa John's was founded in the USA in 1984 and there are now almost 300 stores across the UK, each fulfilling John's 'Better Ingredients. Better Pizza' philosophy. Papa John's has more than 4,600 stores in 37 countries.
