Guinness World Records recognized the world record for the most people making sandwiches simultaneously is 254 and was achieved by Subway (USA) at TimesCenter in New York, New York, USA.

The Guinness world record for the most expensive sandwich commercially available is von Essen Platinum Club Sandwich, created by Chef Daniel Galmiche (UK) and is available on the menu of Cliveden, Buckinghamshire, UK for £100 ($200).

Cafe owner Paul Philips is hoping to create a new category in the record books for the most expensive commercially available bacon butty.

According to Paul, each one takes around 15 minutes to make, with all the proceeds going to charity.

Ingredients for the Bacon Bling sandwich cost £50 and include:
  # Seven rashers of bacon from rare breed pig (type of breed varies depending on local availability)
  # One free range egg
  # Bun from a local bakers
  # Truffle oil instead of butter
  # Black truffle shavings
  # Water cress
  # Seasoning of saffron
  # Edible gold dust

The cafe is raising money for SKRUM, a British charity which helps children in Swaziland learn to play rugby, and the Regular Forces Employment Association.

Cafe owner Paul Philips, 41, has created the ultimate greasy treat in a bid to raise money for two charities - and hopefully earn a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, too. (the pigs may fly before that, because only WRA has UNLIMITED categories).
