Longest roll cake: Taiwan breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei, in collaboration of Kaiping Culinary High School, spent more than one year studying how to make a roll cake with ingredients including raspberry, taro paste and pineapple that is long enough while maintaining its perfect curve; they created a roll cake measuring 268.69 meters in length, breaking the Guinness World Records world record for the longest roll cake,according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the longest cake roll is 268.69 m (881 ft 6.3 in) and was achieved by Shangri-la's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei (Chinese Taipei) at the Far Eastern Plaza, in Taipei, Chinese Taipei on 7th May 2015.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest spring roll; it measured 500 m (1,640 ft 5 in) and was made in an event organised by APOT.Asia (Australia), in Da Nang, Vietnam, on 5 June 2014. A hotel and a culinary school in Taipei jointly created a roll cake measuring 268.69 meters in length, breaking the Guinness World records world record for the longest roll cake set by Japan at 140.62 meters in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The record breaking cake was made with 86 kg of taro butter and raspberry jam, 164 kg of pineapple and 20 kg of chocolate by a team of chefs from the hotel and 35 students from the school.
The cake was then divided and put into 900 boxes and sold out at the scene, with proceeds to be donated to charity, according to a hotel spokesman.
