Largest serving of chili con carne: Minto breaks Guinness World Records' record
MINTO, ND, USA -- The Minto community cooked a pot of 2,240 pounds of chili; that mark broke the previous Guinness World Records' record of 1,430 pounds and sets the new world record for the Largest serving of chili con carne,
while raising $10,000, a benefit for several Minto-area causes,
according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The previous Guinness World Records' record for the largest pot of chili con carne weighed 652.41 kg (1,438.32 lb) and was made by the Keystone Aquatic Club at the Broad Street Market, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA.
Guinness World Record also recognized the world record for the hottest chilli, which is the Trinidad Scorpion "Butch T" which was grown by The Chilli Factory (Australia) and rated at 1,463,700 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) according to tests conducted by EML Consulting Services in Morisset, New South Wales, Australia.
Dumped into the pot were 900 pounds of diced tomatoes, 700 pounds of ground beef, 500 pounds of kidney beans, 250 pounds of onions and green peppers and 70 pounds of spices, the Grand Forks Herald reported.
Misialek, owner of the Harvey Avenue Saloon in Minto, estimated the crowd at the June chili feed at about 4,000. The community has about 600 residents.
The event, which raised about $10,000, was a benefit for several Minto-area causes.
