Largest popcorn doughnut: world record set in South Africa (VIDEO)
MAGALIESSIG, South Africa -- In a bid to raise funds for children of Diepsloot, Emilio's Gourmet Popcorn commemorated World Popcorn Day on 19 January by creating a giant popcorn doughnut, which measured 1,25m in diameter thus setting
the new world record for the Largest popcorn doughnut, according to the World Record Academy.

"For each purchased slice of the popcorn doughnut, which costs about R25, will be fully donated to the purchase of a stationery set for an underprivileged schoolchild in Diepsloot," Alexander said.
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD (TM) for the largest popcorn ball weighed 3,423 lb (1,552.64 kg) and was made by employees at The Popcorn Factory, Lake Forest, Illinois, USA on 29 September 2006.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (TM) also recognized the world record for the largest popcorn mosaic; it measures 100 sq metres (1,076.39 sq ft) and was created by nine artists on behalf of Business Russia to celebrate '10 years of Popcorn in Russia', in Moscow, Russia on 16 December 2001. The popcorn replicated a famous artwork by KS.Petrov-Vodkin entitled Bathing of a Red Horse.
AGT Foods joined the charity initiative and supplied Emilio's with 50kg of popcorn kernels and a donation of R5 000 towards the project.
Filled with nothing but sweetness, the popcorn doughnut took close to nine hours to make, which made it worthwhile that the rewards go to the children in need.
Alexander hoped that next year they will create a two-metre popcorn doughnut which will sponsor 1 000 schoolchildren.
