Largest Dessert Party: Niagara College breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)
Niagara Falls, ON, Canada -- With 910 participants and 5,000 desserts being served up at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus Wednesday, Niagara College's Many Hands Project now holds the world record for the Largest Dessert Party; the previous Guinness World Records record was held by Friendly's Ice Cream in Wilbraham, Mass., which included 794 people and over 3,800 desserts, according to the World Record Academy.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest dessert party was attended by 794 people organized by Friendly's Ice Cream (USA) at the Friendly's Headquarters in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, USA, on 18 July 2013. Three varieties of ice cream sundaes were served.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest dessert party in multiple venues; it involved 6,997 participants and was organized by Tanger Outlets (USA) and took place simultaneously at 34 venues in 22 states across the USA on 12 May 2011. Tanger Outlets threw the world's largest dessert party in order to celebrate their 30th birthday. Cookies, cupcakes, cream cakes, brownies and red velvet cake were among the desserts served at the 34 venues. With 910 participants and 5,000 desserts being served up at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus Wednesday, Niagara College's Many Hands Project now holds the world record for the Largest Dessert Party.
The previous Guinness World Records world record was held by Friendly's Ice Cream in Wilbraham, Mass., which included 794 people and over 3,800 desserts.
The college's Canadian Food and Wine Institute, Above and Beyond Cupcakes, Fallsview Casino, Willow Cakes, Pig Out Catering and others provided desserts.
While the total amount raised has not yet been calculated, the event was expected to raise an estimated $7,000 for the College's 18th annual Many Hands Project which is giving Strive Niagara a renovation to its Welland facility this spring.
Strive Niagara is a non-profit, social service organization that provides childcare, outreach, resources and support for young families in need who are pursuing an education.
