  Most valuable sports team: Dallas Cowboys sets world record (VIDEO)
   
   DALLAS, TX, USA -- The Dallas Cowboys (owner Jerry Jones) were ranked as the most valuable sports team in the world in 2016, at an estimated worth of $4 billion, according to a Forbes ranking, the World Record Academy reports.

 The Guinness World Records world record for the most valuable piece of football history is an original FA Cup, one of four produced for the first competition held in 1871 and presented to the winning team between 1896 and 1910. An anonymous telephone bidder bought the cup for £420,000 ($773,136) from Christie's, UK on 19 May 2005. With the added premium the actual price paid was £478,400 ($880,639).

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest soccer lesson consisted of 686 participants, achieved at event organised by Knocklyon United Football Club (Ireland) in Knocklyon, Dublin, Ireland, on 23 May 2014.

     The National Football League franchise's value popped 25 percent from last year, the publication said.

     Famed team Real Madrid is worth $3.6 billion, and its arch rival FC Barcelona is worth $3.5 billion.
