   Largest bank card mosaic: MasterCard breaks Guinness World Records record

   DUBAI, UAE -- To celebrate UAE National Flag Day 2015, MasterCard and its partners set a new world record title by creating the largest mosaic made entirely by bank cards; the giant mosaic of the UAE flag is made up of more than 30,000 bank cards and stretches over 141 square meters, thus setting the new world record for the Largest bank card mosaic, according to the World Record Academy.

  The Guinness World Records' record for the largest piggy bank is 8.03 m (26 ft 4.3 in) long and 5.58 m (18 ft 3.7 in) tall and was achieved by Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg (Germany), in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on 18 May 2015. The piggy bank also had a circumference of 17.87 m (58 ft 7.5 in) and was 5.54 m (18 ft 2 in) wide. Money was inserted into the piggy bank using a small crane, carrying each coin to the slot one by one after inserting it into a smaller piggy bank at the bottom of the crane.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest number of coins toppled in a domino fashion; it is 12,349 and was achieved by Shinsei Bank, Limited (Japan) at TACS Odaiba Studio in Koto, Tokyo, Japan, on 22 November 2009.

    The ceremony was attended by executives from Emaar Properties, The Dubai Mall and Emaar Retail, local banks and Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment.

   The flag was assembled in the Olympic sized Dubai Ice Rink in The Dubai Mall, the world's largest and most-visited retail and entertainment destination.

   In recognition of the significance of UAE National Flag Day, a series of limited edition bank cards sporting recognizable and memorable artwork featuring the distinguishing red, black, white and green UAE flag colours was created for this project.

   The flag is approximately 8.6m x 16.6m in size and consists of custom-made bank cards from the following participating banks: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Ajman Bank, Al Hilal Bank, Commercial Bank of Dubai, Commercial Bank International, Citibank UAE, Dubai First, Dunia, Emirates Islamic, Emirates NBD, Finance House, HSBC, Lari Exchange, Mashreq, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Noor Bank, RAKBank, Samba, UAE Exchange, Union National Bank, and United Arab Bank.

    Commenting on the record breaking event, Eyad Al Kourdi, Senior Vice President and General Manager – UAE, MasterCard said: "We are delighted to be marking this celebratory day for the UAE with another world record for our nation. Thanks to the joint efforts of Watani Al Emarat Foundation, and 21 of our bank partners, we are paying our respects to the country with this initiative. This is our way of expressing our gratitude to the UAE and underscores the commitment we've shown to the country for nearly 30 years."
