Largest parade of electric vehicles: EV Parade breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

Cupertino, CA, USA -- California has witnessed the world's largest ever parade of electric vehicles (EVs), 507 cars in one place; this new record was set during Plug-in America's National Drive Electric Week, and event organized by the San Francisco BayLEAFs, the Electric Auto Association of Silicon Valley and SAP. The South Bay snatched the Guinness World Record for longest electric vehicle (EV) parade away from Stuttgart, Germany, with 507 vehicles--among them Nissan Leafs, Tesla Model S's, Toyota RAV4s, and converted autos--traversing a two-mile path on and around De Anza College's campus.

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest parade of electric vehicles is 507 and was organized by San Francisco BayLEAFs, Electric Auto Association Silicon Valley and SAP (all USA) in Cupertino, California, USA, on September 20th, 2014.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest parade of electric cars; it consisted of 160 cars and was organised by Intentional Artist Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen & Sharing Copenhagen (both Denmark) on Øresund Bridge, Denmark, on 21 September 2014.

The most unusual EV at the event was Stella, the solar-powered EV that is touring the world. PIA says that this four-person EV "can produce twice as much energy as it needs in a day," so it should feel right at home in the Golden State, the Autoblog Green reported.

Organized by advocacy group Plug In America in concert with other national organizations like the Sierra Club and Electric Auto Association, National Drive Electric Week encompassed 152 events in 35 states, as well as Canada, Italy, and The Netherlands.

The Cupertino rally was organized by the San Francisco bayLEAFs and the Silicon Valley chapter of the Electric Auto Association. The 507-car total achieved there surpasses the 481 cars gathered at a rally in Stuttgartt, Germany, earlier this year, The Green Car reports noted.
