Most bungee jumps in a day: Scott Huntly sets world record

Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa -- For 49-year-old Scott Huntly, jumping off the Bloukrans Bridge in the Western Cape a total of 107 times in just nine hours was a "relaxing experience" , but he also sets the new world record for the Most bungee jumps in a day.most bungee jumps in a day Scott Huntly

The previous Guinness world record for the Most bungee jumps in 24 hours was set by Mike Heard, who performed 103 bungee jumps in 10 hr 19 min in the AJ Hackett Bungy Pod under the Auckland Harbour Bridge, New Zealand.

Guinness World Records also recognized The most bungee jumps in 24 hours (indoors) world record: 225, achieved by Peter Charney (Canada).

The expat dad of one, from Edinburgh, said: "I only stopped twice to go to the toilet, otherwise I was either jumping down or bouncing back up."

Mining executive Scott Huntly, completed the project to raise funds for local communities.

"I wanted to help the communities around where our mine is situated. They don't have sports facilities or a lot of recreational activities to do. I am hoping to introduce some form of sport there [in Limpopo]," he said.

Jumping off the world's highest commercially-operated bungee, at 216 metres above the Bloukrans River, is no mean feat.

The risks include possible safety equipment malfunctions and health issues including eyesight damage and whiplash, and shoulder, back and spinal injuries.

"I had a medic who checked me every 10 jumps, but to be honest, I didn't even really know all the health risks before I jumped."

Huntly's next record-breaking mission is to travel the world in what has been dubbed the "Bungee Sevens" — jumping off the highest commercial bungees on each of the seven continents 10 times.
